This is my first requset for help.I have read posts on this site in the past and have used info from the site to repair my truck. I am at a loss with this current engine fault. I don't want to quit on this thing without finding the problem. These are my symptoms.
--My check engine light came on.
--The engine is hard to start and runs rough.
--Fuel mixture very rich(black smoke out tailpipe).
--Auto tranny will shift only as the column selector
is moved low, 2nd, high or reverse.
--Overdrive button will not work.
--With ignition switch on, but not cranking engine,
Fuel pump runs continuously, either tank, (does
not shutoff after 1 second).

I have tried to pull the KOEO codes by reading the MIL as per guidance I've read on some of the posts and the Haynes manuel. The EEC will not step through and give up anything. I have read codes this way in the past and could here the EEC cycling through its paces. In its current condition it does not respond.
thanks in advance for any assistance. Billy Mc
