| 2001 F150 SuperCrew 4.6L with about 110K miles. Recent plug change, new fuel filter, clean air filter, and clean MAF sensor. Three times in the past 60 days, my truck has died while driving in the 25 - 45 mph range. No prior indication, engine just stops running. The normal dash lights come on to include Check Engine. Truck will not restart while rolling in Neutral but immediately restarts once stopped and in Park. Check Engine light does not stay lit so there are no codes for OBD II.
Thoughts?
Thanks,

| wow, sounds like you have a real winner of a problem... I don't even know wher to start really, but I were to take a shot in the dark I would say that is a computer problem and or a coil problem. Has your truck ever had a chip or programmer? |

| No chip or programmer. Only problem its ever had was when I got water (from washing my engine) down around a plug where it missed firing until I got the water out.
I was thinking ignition or fuel line issue since the problem rarely occurs and doesn't last. |

It's normal for the check engine light to come on when the engine stalls. But, a code can be set and stored even though the check engine light has gone off.. Also, there are what is known as pending codes that don't turn the light on at all. Have you plugged in a code reader to see if there are any codes stored? |

| I have not run an OBDII check as I didn't know there could be a code without the Check Engine light being on.
I will do that today. Thanks. |

| Pre-code of P1451 EVAP Control System Event Control Ctk Malfunction. Again Check Engine light is not on.
I've reviewed my Haynes book on EVAP System and general system checks. I don't have any fuel odor in my garage, my canister is OK, and I don't see any loose vaccum hoses.
Any thoughts on why this would cause infrequent stalls and what else I can check? |

| I also found a P1451 means "Lack of Response From Passive Anti-Theft System Module - Engine Disabled". This would defineatly fit the engine dying on me infrequently....
Any thoughts? |

| Dealertime. I would think that means the theft is saying it's being stolen so it shuts the engine off. |

| Try what I think is called the inertia switch. It is on the passenger side on the right side of where their feet would be. THere is a small button about half an inch wide. If you can push this down, it will probably start right up. I hit a large bump in the road which jarred mine out, I believe. It fixed mine. I also had no check engine light. |
