| My 98 has the factory 6 disc CD changer located begind the driver seat (ext. cab) how do I unhook it or take it out even. The deck is stuck and everytime a turn the key on it makes a loud grinding noise.
Thanks,

| Seeing this post, i have a question about the cd changers too. Does anyone know if you can get an adapter for it so you can use an aftermarket deck with it? the plug for the back is too big for any aftermarktet deck and i didnt know if theres an adapter that you can buy for it. thanks |

I wish there was, but it sure doesn't look like it. I guess Ford figured people wouldn't upgrade beyond premium or just didn't care. _________________ Red on red supercab, running boards, Off-road package, Raider Viewliner matching cap, custom (home made!) tonneau cover, Recon Big Rig 62" running lights, hood deflector, sketchy Edge Evo 15050. |

| Yea thats what i was thinking. i guess when i made my decision about having my Ipod hooked up or the disk changer hooked up it was a little more final than i thought it would have been. wish i could use both but looks like i cant. thanks for confirming my suspicions. |

Yes, there is. I did a lot of research and found an I-pod adapter that will allow you to use both your factory head unit and your factory CD changer at the same time. It's made by "Peripheral"
Model #PXFD98 available at www.installer.com It has a switch that lets you toggle between head unit / CD changer / I-pod and an additional source too without doing much if any wiring, plug & play. There are also many other adapters, harnesses, and interfaces available there. It's model specific depending on your truck model and year. Mine's made by "Clarion" for FORD. Here's the phone number for "Peripheral" 1-727-572-9255 ext. 230
Also, I bought 2 brand new CD changer magazines for $30.00 each from a different company. Here is the part number for my factory CD changer Magazine # F87F 18C833 AA .
I' ll have to look up who I bought it from, but just Google the part No. Just saw one on E-bay for $24.99
Hope this helps. _________________ Adding: JBA SS titainium ceramic shorty headers, Dual "FLEXOLITE" electric fan, "HAWK" superduty front pads, "Classic Tube" Stop-flex SS Hoses.

| Others in this thread may, and the I-pod will read out on the factory head unit display. The "Clarion" factory head unit is rated at 105 db. S/N Ratio, and is more user friendly than after market stereos. |
