| Im looking to get 1 12" sub and a pretty good amp, does anyone have any recomendations on what brands or a specific model i should buy?
Or should I get 2 10" subs instead?
And is there enough room to fit ANYTHING(subs, amp, any other equipment ill need) under the seets? I have a 2001 reg. cab sport |

| 1-12 will be plenty. Just get a class d sub amp of any reputable brand. Don't blow several hundred on a name like Rockford Fosgate or PPI. A kenwood or pioneer amp will do the job just fine. 300Wx1 is good enough for any 12" sub to pound. |

| the bigest thing is getting a good box - a bad box will make an expensive sub sound like junk and a good box will make a cheaper sub sound better - i have a pair of mtx 10's i have and for 10 years this month adn love - they are driven by an even older ppi amp - if had to buy new stuff for this truck i wuold only get one 12" to save on space and money _________________ an unloaded gun is just an expensive paperweight |

You say that having NO idea what the rest of the system is like. Bad business. 300W could very well be way too much or way too little depending on what else other components are involved. |

| if you want a good place to start looking go to crutchfield and look at their selection - they also have a lot of good info for folks new to this stuff - i prefer the better known brand stuff like jl, mtx, alpine and so - they are usually proud of their reputation and continue to make good products - just dont get in a hurry and shop around for the best deal on what you want - check local shops as well - i reccomend getting one that can pound when you want it to but usually stays with the gain turned down to whre it compliments, not overpowers the music - just get a few of your fave cd's (not mp3 cd's) and set it up how you like it from the drivers seat - its your truck and stereo after all _________________ an unloaded gun is just an expensive paperweight |

When I go to local audio shops I like to talk to the techs not the salesmen. That way you don't have to deal with someone trying to sell you something that you don't need and the techs generally have really nice systems and know alot more about ohm ratings, RMS power and the like.
Take a look at what the tech reccomends online and see what others say about it. See if you can then find one on ebay or other sites. |

| Shotgun, what you said makes NO sense. The wattage has no impact on how loud you turn the sub up; it only comes into play when you start pounding your brains out. If you turn the sub volume up, 300W will allow you to do it until your mirrors shake to where you can't see out of them. If you don't turn it up, there power is still there.
It doesn't matter whether the rest of the speakers are stock (which I'm assuming).
BTW: They don't make many class-d amps in lower wattages than that due to the fact that using less wattage for a subwoofer makes clipping prevalent. |

| I know some have advised about staying away from high end amps but when I was very big into stereo's I had only used amps from Rockford Fosgate and I can say from experence they are very powerful and are pretty much bullet proof. I used punch as well as series one from them and never had issues with running anything.
I would suggest something like rockford for what you want. |

| I have used and had many friends use generic pioneer, kenwood, infinity amps with not so much as a hiccup too. Which leads me to believe that for non-comptetition use (i.e. 95% of all users) any amp will do. I'm not knowcking the MTX/RF/PPI's, just saying they aren't necessary for a normal audio system. |
