have a '99 f150 4.6l. the a/c is not working. When I turn the a/c on the tach drops a bit, but it won't blow cold air. When I had it at the dealer they told me it was a bad clutch coil $350-$400 fix. They said the pressure was good. Has anyone had touble with this or repaired any.

It might be the coil, it might be any one of half a dozen other parts that have failed. Presumably, the dealership technician performed a thorough diagnosis and confirmed the coil was faulty. Perhaps, he just guessed. No way of knowing from here.

Check the resistance of the coil with an ohmmeter. Should be around 3 to 4 ohms. If that is good, the problem is something else.

What about the blend door?

I had the same problem. Apparently 99 year models have blend door issues. I had a mechanic fix it because the dash had to be completly removed.

Blend door failure is usually characterized by loss of temperature control in both heating and air conditioning modes.

Failure of the A/C only will not be due to a blend door issue.
