Hello. First of all, I have always been a Chevy guy but I got this truck for free and I'm starting to like it. But, about a month ago the engine started making a bad lower end noise and after a few tests, found out its shot... Now I need to put in a new engine and have a couple of questions about Fords.

I have found a couple of freshly rebuilt 302s and was wondering what years would be the easiest to put into the truck... Let me clarify... I found a low-mileage 302 out of an 81 F-150 and was wondering if all the sensors, bracketry, etc would bolt up to it off of my 89? I'm going to keep the fuel injection (of course) and this is my everyday driver so I need to do this as quick as possible, but, like I said, I'm a Chevy guy and all of this is foreign to me.

I am a mechanic so, please, dont give me any baby-talk, I am just unfamiliar with Ford engine configurations and the set-ups for these different years... Just thought I would put that out there

Any help would be very appreciated. Thank You

Tom

I think 302 blocks should be the same but not sure, just switch out the bracketry. I would call a machine shop, they may know. also junk yards have a match book that tells what will fit what, parts from different years on diff. engines.

Blocks are the same. Shouldn't have any problem since you're using the EEC in the 89 and using sensors from that engine.
