Well, I bought a K&N FIPK, and as we all know, black absorbs/radiates heat. So, what do you all think about painting the Intake tube and deflector shield white. I know it would look like S#!t, but I drive the truck more than I look that the engine. I've also seen people paint other parts white to, ie:throttle body on top and bottom.
I want as much out of it as possible...or is it just a waste of time? |

| I believe that only applies to light or sun light. Since your hood would cover the intake no light will get in. Getting cool less turbulent air into the intake is the main idea. |

| waste of time.. it's black because it's better than the older K&N which have the metal tube. The metal heats up and makes the air in it hotter. The black tube stays cooler than the metal and therefore keeps the air going to your engine cooler _________________ Bad A$$ Girls Drive Bad A$$ Toys

| heat transfer has nothing to do with color (i am an engineer). Heat color does have to do with heat retention due to sunlight or UV. So in reality if you had no hood then yes, white would work. You could paint your hood white? |
