Check for vacuum leaks and clean the IAC

Cold, yes it is, warm, no. Sounds like the IAC needs cleaning or replacing.

Cheers

thanks for your input. i did clean the iac valve with no change. also, i noticed that the DPFE sensor/EVR solenoid makes a buzzing noise after turning off the truck. is this normal? no vacuum leaks either. i've been a FORD man my whole life. but i'm old school as far as mechanics so i definately appreciate the troubleshooting help. i just purchased my truck which is a 97 F-150 4x4 short bed, regular cab. the truck is in excellent condition. pics coming soon.
