Does anyone know if the new f150's will have flex fuel, or any other fuel options because of the rising gas prices?

The 5.4L will be flex fuel, the 4.6L (2v & 3v) will not.

There are only two benefits to using E-85. It's better for the environment and it reduces dependence on foreign oil.

You'll save very little money (if any) using E-85. The price may be lower, but your fuel mileage will drop quite a bit when you use it. Alcohol doesn't have the same power as regular gasoline so you need more of it to go the same distance.

According to the EPA, the 2008 Ford F150 STX SE FFV 2WD 8 cyl, 5.4 L, Automatic 4-spd, gets:

14 City and 19 Hwy on regular gas
10 City and 14 Hwy on E-85

Agree with jwt though, hear the milage sucks and scared of what may happn 100,000 mi.(or even 10,000) later!

i run E85 in my 2007 F150 and it is about 50 cents cheapre a gallon than gas right now and a full tank of E85 lasts as long for me as a tank of gas. i can go a week on either kind. dont believe everything the government tells you, look who the president is and remember that he is an oil man!!

You can't get the same mileage with E-85 as you can with regular gas. It's simple chemistry and physics. Ethanol has less energy than gasoline and because of that it takes more to do the same work. You can't get something for nothing.

When you compare, try recording your actual mileage when you fill up rather than estimating gallons per week. Here's what the independent consumers magazine, Consumer Reports has to say:

http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/cars/new-cars/news/2006/ethanol-10-06/overview/1006_ethanol_ov1_1.htm

As far as Bush.. He's FOR ethanol.. He called on congress to pass legislation reducing the use of gasoline and happily signed the bill when it was ready.

i am telling you, hes an oil man, and the cold hard real life facts are me myself and i get the same out of either, my truck is moded though for better milege. one of the things is a diablosport predator that helps you out alot, i can run the 93 octane tune all the time. you can also adjust it more but i have not done that. before the mods it might have not get as good. the fastest drop you notice is in the first quarter tank and then after that it levels off. dont believe everything you read, do it from expireance. E85 here is about 60 cents cheaper a gallon also.

What is your actual mileage with gasoline and E85? I'm currently getting an average 16mpg with gasoline. I arrived at that figure by taking the actual miles I drive and dividing it by the actual gallons I used to drive those miles, which averages to about 400 miles per tank. I was thinking about trying the E85, but after reading that CR article (thanks jwt8743), I'm not going to waste my money. The only area in which the E85 outdoes gasoline is in the NOx and Hydrocarbon emissions, but a 27% decrease where it really counts, mpg, I'm not going for that. I think Consumer Reports is a fairly reliable source, unless they're also in the back pocket of Bush and the oil industry.

consumer reports tested chevy vehicles, to my knowledge they did not test ford. on gas if i drive right i can get 18, on E85 i figure i get about 16.5. i use to fill up in a week at three quarters of tank and on E85 the needle is between three quarters and an eighth in the same amount of time.
