| Ok, so I posted this in the 2008 forum, my bad; here it goes again.
I’m planning to get another F150 in 2009. This time 4x4 though. At any rate, I got to thinking and started to wonder how most F150 owners would choose given the following two options:
1) 2009 FX4 F150 Diesel
2) 2009 FX4 F150 Gas V8 + supercharger (this add on goes for approximately 6K, and that just happens to be how much more Diesel engines go for)
So let’s hear it. |

| lol...well unless you buy the rousch charger the supercharger will void your warranty. How do diesel prices compare to gas prices in ur area? |

| Prices have gone to hell for just about everything. That said, no real difference. I love the fuel autonomy a diesel provides, but on the other hand 450hp makes my day. A note on that, Saleen will provide the supercharger for the 2008 Harley Davidson F150, and alls cool with the warranty if factory installed. |

Well, I guess it all depends on what you plan to use the truck for. Working or racing! That will more or less make your decision easy.

| Get the diesel and get a chip for it. It'll have enough torque to pull your house. |

| Thanks y’all; kinda wish I would have made this a poll if I had known how to, so as to gauge what most of you think. I mean, come on, this is going to be a real decision one or two years down the road. I understand that it’all depends on what you use it for, that said: either will work well in as far as a F150 payload/suspension, etc is concerned. I wonder why I’m the only one who cares about this. 6.5K extra, that’s what the new engine is gonna go for. y’all take care. |

| Get the diesel! The options for improving the performance are dramatically better than if it were gas. You also get better gas mileage than gas (even though diesel is a little more) and they sound great. My dad loves his diesel as his old F-350 gas truck was getting about 9-mpg with all of his tools in the back and now with his current F-350 diesel he now is getting about 13-mpg. They also have lots of more torque.
Some said wait a year because they are a newer gen, but the newer gens are the gas trucks as the newer gen diesels have already been out for a year now. |

| i dont think they are out yet, in fact from what I read they will be the same architecture as the current Landy engine, only larger and with a turbo. I probably will go down that road. just for shits though, it apears the block will be made in Brazil, shipped and finished in UK, them put together in the US. I only wish Ford would come up with a 100% home grown V8 oil burner. |

| Buy the gas engine....and supercharge it. Diesel prices are goin to sky rocket even further and a gas engine is much cheaper to maintain! Yea diesel lasts longer but if your not beatin it as a work truck then 5yrs later you'll want sumthing newer anyways so longevity means nothing as far as 200,000 miles is concerned! Thats my .02! |

If you are using it for business, get the diesel. It is not the purchase price that's important here, but the ongoing costs. Diesel fuel burns slower, so you are not in the petrol station as much and you save money that goes in your pocket and not into the fuel tank! This is especially true if you drive in an area off road, as fuel comsumption increases enormously.
Diesels are notoriously reliable, they'll go forever and are tough and have a lot of torque.
So there you are, for commercial use, a diesel, with it's quality, economic advantage, shits all over petrol
If you are using it for standard road use, up to you really _________________ amband |

| You know, its not so much the free trade the pisses me off, as it is the lack of endogenous technology. The motor that’s going to power the diesel F150 will be similar to the current Lion based AJD-V8, only a bit larger. As it turns out, these engines employ compacted graphite iron (CGI) blocks, and well- we just aren’t equpied to produce them. Currently only Brazil does, and they supply Audi as well. So why the F$ does ford use this? lets either manufacture this sheat ourselves or use something we can make.
Ps. I’m still gonna buy it. Its still American (for the time being).
just for shits, did y’all know that the differential lockers offered on the new jeep wranglers are all fully made in Asia (I mean the metal and everthing – no wonder reports are coming in that ARBs outperform stock jeep lockers).
