I am considering making my own intake with a K&N filter that I had lying around from one of my old turbo cars. The filter is a cone with a 4" inlet. Has anyone made their own before? I am having a hard time justifying spending 2-300 on a pipe, filter, and a little bit of R&D. Any help or info would be greatly appreciated.

Too easy to buy a kit with everything in place. Would love to see the finished product though when you are done.

The ease is very tempting, it's just the cost that's hard to take. Plus, I have the filter already....

What size are the inlet pipes? I am not near my truck, unfortunately.

As long as you can get a nice clean sweep for your radius and position the MAF sensor in the right spot it should work just as good as the $300 ones. Well, as long as you had a good airbox of course. The airbox volume and getting it to seal against the hood would most likely be the biggest challenge.

$300 takes a lot of overtime hours to buy truck toys for virtually no daily/average advantages.

I'm thinking about mimicking the JLT intake and have a straight shot to the TB with the filter above the radiator. JLT claims the biggest HP increase, so why not try something similar....
