I have an 06 screw with a 5.4, I cant seem to find a trailering adaptor, I have a trailer with a flat five connection, the last lead is for a reverse brake override. Any idea where to get an adaptor?

what trailer wiring do you have on your truck? I got the round 7 with a flat 4 adapter that comes on the truck with the tow package, not sure if I have seen an adapter with brake override to flat 5. I would change the trailer to the round 7 if your truck has it. On the round 7 the center pole is the backup lights which activates the reverse brake override on my trailer.

i work at uhaul, they really dont make an adapter for that, as far as i know. reason is that you have to wire in the reverse wire for that five flat connector. can be easily installed. buy the five flat wiring, they sell it at uhaul. use blue scotch locks to splice into the four flat you already have and run a wire down from the reverse light to hook up that last one. u can eliminate the four flat if you want. since the reverse override is on the opposite end of the male connector. let me know if you need anymore info on it.

Cut that oddball connector off & install one that matches your truck. Be sure you wired each pin correctly, & just abandon the unused terminals for now. You can add wiring to the trailer for them later, if you want.

if the trailer has a five flat on it, it needs the five flat. what that brake override does is disengage the brakes on the trailer to allow you to backup. that fifth wire has to be wire to the reverse light in order for it go work.

Sorry - I was assuming the truck came with a 7-pin or 7-blade, in which case the trailer would still have all the feeds it needs, +2 unused circuits.

I would cut the adaptor off the trailer to match the 7-way on the truck. Your Best bet it too go to a local trailer place that installed brake controller and wiring harnesses and ask them

steve83 is right, modify the trailer not your truck. cut off the plug, by a 7 pin connecter, and wire those five wires to the appropriate plug. you will gain the ability of the 30amp charge line and brake controller line that way.
