Is there anyone who can desribe what the passenger side kick plate looks like and explain what I'm looking for? I'm trying to locate the inertia switch or fuel cutoff so that I can relieve the fuel pressure in order to replace the fuel filter. Any advice would be great.

That's harder to explain than it sounds.

The kick plate is the the plastic piece on the side of the truck down where your feet are. It's the part you would "kick" if you moved your feet over too far.

Just pull the fuse.

Assuming a Ranger, the fuel filter is in the frame rail and uses the clips to hold the hoses on. Just put an oil pan under the fuel filter and release one clip, pushing the hose towards the filter to release the pressure. THese are U shaped clips that push through two slots in the hose end. Jump back and let the gas drain in the pan. THe effort to find the initeria sw is too hard. PUlling the fuse works also but DON'T go under the hood and relieve via the test port. People do that on a hot engine, ONCE.
