2010 / 2011 / 2012 Ford F150 Diesel
Check out our 2011 Ford F150 section.
Update: June 2010 - The sweet 4.4L V8 diesel engine that was rumored to go in the F-150 is going into a Land Rover! You heard that right. The 4.4L V8 diesel engine that is a Ford engine, produced in the Ford Chihuahua engine plant in Mexico, will not make it to the American market in the forseeable future. It is destined for Europe, and not in any Ford products. Better luck next time Diesel F150 fans! I suppose it may make it to the F-150 some day, but for now we're not optimistic. [Source]
Update: January 2010 - Well it's not official but it seems that the idea of putting a diesel engine in the F-150 is dead. Ford is really pushing their EcoBoost (turbo-charged direct injection) engines in their lineup, so we anticipate that that is the closest thing we'll see to a diesel F-150 in the forseable future :-) It doesn't help that the high gas prices seen in 2008 have gone away and gas is relatively cheap still. Stay tuned because if we hear more about a potential F150 Diesel, we'll let you know!
UPDATE: October 16,2008 - PickupTrucks.com is now reporting that
we may in fact not see a F150 diesel model. Or, if we do it may be delayed.
Apparently Ford is considering the EcoBoost option as a better alternative.
Quote: "We’re TBD on diesel-engine timing (for the F-150),"
said Doug Scott, Ford's truck and SUV marketing manager. "We can go either
way." Article.

Ford
has confirmed they fully intend to have a diesel engine in the F-150 for the
2010 model year. They didn't say any more other than they want to be the first
of the "big 3" to put a diesel in the light duty pickup. They didn't
give us any indication as to what we'll see but there has been plenty of speculation.
Ford also mentioned that for 2010 we'll see the use of EcoBoost engines - that
is Gasoline Turbo Direct Injection. We predict It's now confirmed that we will see a V6 turbo under the
hood in 2010!

In late 2007, AutoWeek reported
that Ford will allegedly be putting a supercharged 4.4L diesel V8 engine in
the F-150 for 2009. Expect it to have around 330 horsepower and 520 lb-ft of
torque! GM & Dodge are also planning on putting diesel engines in 1/2 ton
trucks, but Ford is expected to be the first to actually produce such a truck.
The 4.4-liter engine is a larger version of the 3.6-liter turbocharged V-8 used
in European market Land Rover Range Rovers.
Talk about the new diesel engine
in our new 2009 Ford F150 Forum!
The Ford Ranger crowd back in the 1980's had the option
of ordering a factory-installed diesel engine. Super Duty
owners have had the diesel option since the redesign in 1999. But the F-150
crowd has been without the option of a diesel engine forever!
There has been a lot of speculation regarding a diesel engine being put in
the F-150, but we haven't heard anything official yet. As we hear more, we'll
post the information here. If you have a tip regarding a potential diesel F-150,
let us know.
Did you know? The diesel engine was not originally
designed to run on what we know today as diesel fuel, but rather oil.
