Looking for: Looking to trade my Explorer plus cash for a 1997-98 Ford F150. Smile

About the truck:

It's got 169K Miles on it but the transmission feels great (recently power flushed and serviced) and has a new Jasper engine with about 16K on it (cost approximately $3300). It has the XLT package with the rare cloth bucket seats (both driver and passenger are power seats), push-button 4x4, code D4 heavy duty 3.73 Limited Slip differentials (rare), double cup console, manual sunroof, and power everything else. 4X4 works great, as does the cruise control. The underside and frame is clean with almost no rust at all (there is some on the radiator support).

The A/C is not working at this time, I believe I have tracked it down to a malfunctioning wire in the engine compartment (purple wire, no power). Probably a “loose end” from when they put the engine in. Interior could use new carpet in the front (or a good cleaning).

The truck was in a minor accident (parking lot bump) with the original owner, and caused the driver's quarter panel to be replaced by a body shop. It was done right and it's perfect. The passenger quarter needs to be fixed yet (small rust issue), the previous owner bondo-ed it. The clear coat came off the hood and is coming off the roof (as you can tell in the pictures). I tried repainting the hood with aerosol, but I don't have the tools or facility to do an awesome job so it needs to be redone.

I've replaced a lot of little and some big stuff on this truck and the previous owner dumped a ton of cash into this truck to rebuild the entire front suspension (my mechanic said it was the cleanest Explorer front end he's ever seen). My mechanic also replaced the fuel system (lines, tank, pump, etc) as it was leaking. The previous owner installed a new stock cat back exhaust system, so that's only about two years old. Tires also about a two years old. I changed a few sensors. I changed the front bumper to a mint condition one as the original was lightly pitted, and replaced the grille for the same reason. I've replaced countless little things and upgraded the speakers to later model Ford Premium sound so it sounds great. Mechanically it is in great shape, it runs awesome; all thats needed is a small amount of body work and fresh paint. It's been the most comfortable truck I've ever owned.

I recently discovered a little patch of rust on the driver rocker. Rocker isn't horrible or anything yet but will eventually need repair.

I want to make perfectly clear that this truck is not perfect, however it is really good and wouldn't take much to make it perfect. This truck was factory ordered with a highly desirable combination of options for an Explorer fan/enthusiast; it would be hard for me to find another one like this again (custom ordered by a Ford dealer owner). Pretty good on gas (15 MPG city / 19 MPG highway; better with intake/exhaust mods or a lighter right foot), and runs best on regular 87. Great for the family, as a winter truck, for summer off-roading/mudding or college transport.

Just a side note, this HiFi radio is the best radio in a car ever. It gets all AM stations! I took a trip in this out to PA about 130 miles away, and my friends car normally loses 95.1, but it came in loud and strong way past where his car radio lost it.

Not much rust underneath, just dirt.
Clear title in hand and it has current NJ inspection good through February 2009. Explorer comes with Chilton's Manual and 1992 Ford Car/Truck Dealer Service CD.
