SO what I have here is my 97' Ford F150 4x4 XLT. I bought this truck in the summer of 03'. It is an extended cab, flareside shortbed with the offroad package. It has a rear sliding window, power locks, power windows, power mirrors, air bags, cruise, anti lock brakes, tilt.
The body is in ok condition. It still looks good but has a few flaws that are noticable up close. First the bumpers are both bad. The front one is dented from a very light fender bender. It has been there since I've owned the truck. Most people never even notice it unless I poin it out.
The rear bumper has rust issues for some reason. I looks ok when you clean the rust stains off but it is developing a rust through. The uncarrige is clean. It looks like the frame was undercoated at one time but some is flaking off. Not very much rust at all.
The rear fender on the passenger side has a streak of scatches about the size of my hand from sliding next to a street sign very slowly on ice. I've beem told by many body shops that it could easily be buffed out.
Now for the mechanical issues...
The biggest is the rear end. It was devleping a clunk while driving so I took the rear diff pan off and a few teeth were missing off of the ring and pinion. Therefore it will either need rebuilt or replaced.
Next is the 4x4. It currently does not work. The shift lever seperated from the shift linkage on a very snowy night and simply needs a bolt drilled out and replaced. The actuator on the front axle may need some monkeying with due to it not being used for more than a year.
The heater core needs replaced. This is the only issue I was worried about. I've heard that replacing this is a very time consuming task. If you have patience, unlike me, this should be a piece of cake.
This vechile needs some work definitely but has great potenital. I have put very many new parts on this truck.
All of these repairs were done in 06' except tie rod ends.
-New motor in Installed by professional.
-New ball joints upper and lower Installed by professional.
-New bearing hub assembleys Both Sides
-New Tie rod ends
-New brake master cylinder
-New water pump
-New pulleys
-New belt
I had a set off pacesetter headers installed when the motor was replaced. It sounds great and is always complimented just about anywhere I go.
