TruckBlog

As you can tell we don’t post here at the F150 Blog on a really regular basis. One or two blog posts per month is doing good.  I thought I’d take a moment to spread the word about a truck blog that is updated daily. It’s TruckBlog.com, run by a friend of ours (Chris Duke who also runs MOTORZ.TV). If you can’t get your fix of truck news from our blog, or you own more than just Ford trucks, I recommend you add them to your favorites.

2011 Ford Super Duty

Thursday, March 26th, 2009

PickupTrucks.com has arranged for a rendering of what they think the 2011 Ford Super Duty will look like.

It is anticipated the 2011 Ford F-250 / Super Duty trucks will get a major restyle, taking some styling cues from the Super Chief concept truck. Also expected is different engines (Ford’s own V8 diesel), and the manual transmission option is expected to be dropped.

F-Series is Best-Selling Vehicle in 2008

Friday, January 16th, 2009

2008 Ford F-150

For the 32nd year in a row, Ford’s award-winning F-Series is America’s best-selling truck with 2008 sales of 515,513. F-series outsold its nearest truck rival by more than 50,000 units.

In addition, for the 27th year in a row, F-Series is once again America’s best-selling vehicle of any type – car, crossover, SUV, truck or van.

“Our thanks go out to our customers, our dealers and, of course, the Ford employees and supplier partners who design, engineer and manufacture quality, fuel-efficient trucks delivering unmatched capability,” said Jim Farley, Ford’s group vice president, Marketing and Communications.

Congratulations Ford on pulling this off during one of the toughest sales years in recent times. Gas prices went up sharply and truck sales dropped, but obviously Ford has the best built trucks and truck buyers know that. I guess you could say Ford is King of Trucks. :-)

2009 F-150 Gets Up To 12% Better Mileage than 2008 Models

Thursday, September 18th, 2008

2009 F150The 2009 F-150 will get better fuel economy than the 2008 model. The new F-150 gets an average 8% increase in mpg across the lineup as a result of a wide-range of engineering enhancements. The fuel economy gains reach as high as 12% versus the 2008 model equipped with the 3-valve, 5.4-liter V-8 engine.

The big news is the announcement of the new F-150 SFE “superior fuel economy” edition which gets up to 21 mpg (and has an impressive 7,500 lbs towing capability).

Here’s what Ford has to say about the new F-150 SFE:

The new SFE package will be available on F-150 SuperCrew XL and XLT 4X2 vehicles with 4.6-liter, 3-valve V-8 engines and 5.5-foot beds. The SFE pickup will achieve 15 mpg in the city and 21 mpg on the highway.

The SFE package trucks also feature a new fuel-efficient six-speed automatic transmission, a 3.15:1 rear axle and 18-inch chrome clad aluminum wheels with low rolling resistance P265/60R18 all-season tires.

The SFE package will be a no-cost option on XLT SuperCrew pickups with the chrome package and will cost $1,095 when ordered on XL SuperCrew pickups with the decor package.

With the way fuel prices are lately, this is a good thing from Ford. I hope they hurry up on putting out that diesel F-150 as well.

Another neat feature of the 2009 F-150 engine is this:

The F-150 also regulates gas consumption by using aggressive deceleration fuel shut-off. The fuel shut-off is automatic and requires no unusual actions from the driver. When the driver releases the accelerator pedal, the system temporarily turns off the fuel. The flow of fuel seamlessly resumes when the truck reaches a low speed or the driver accelerates again.

2010 F150 Diesel Spotted!

Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008

Jalopnik has brought us some great photos of the 2010 (or is it 2009.5?) 4.4L V8 diesel powered F-150. Ford hasn’t released power ratings, but speculation is that the truck could have up to 350 hp and 450 lb-ft torque.

There’s no doubt the diesel powerplant will provide more power and mileage than a gasser model. To read the full article and see the other photos, go to Jalopnik.

Ford offering Employee Pricing in June on F-Series Trucks

Tuesday, June 3rd, 2008

Ford announced today they are offering employee pricing on F-Series trucks. If you’ve been thinking of buying or leasing a new 2008 F-150, F-250, or F-350, now is the time.

According to Ford:
“Customers have made F-Series America’s best-selling truck for 31 years because it gets the job done. Now, we’re offering even more value on our hard-working trucks,” said John Felice, Ford general marketing manager. “The Ford Employee Pricing Plan on 2008 model F-Series is a great deal with a clear, compelling message that shows customers how much we value their business.”
Customers in the more than 3,600 Ford showrooms across the U.S. will be eligible to receive the highly prized employee discount pricing.

The Plan
The plan is simple to understand. All 2008 model F-Series, except Harley Davidson and chassis cab models, will be sold at employee discounted price plus cash incentives,.

Beginning June 3, participating dealers will receive supplemental window stickers for 2008 models F-Series outlining the MSRP, the employee discount and applicable cash rebates.

The Ford Employee Pricing Plan will be advertised through print, television, radio and Internet ads featuring the employees who build Ford F-Series pickups.
