New SVT Ford Truck Coming for 2009?
Here’s what we do know about a potential SVT truck for 2009. Earlier this morning AutoBlog reported that an SVT rep commented “a new SVT truck is coming … later this fall”. Shortly thereafter PickupTrucks.com reported from a credible source that the truck won’t be called a Lightning. In fact it looks like it’s going to be part of the Harley-Davidson line-up of trucks.
Here’s what we don’t know. We don’t have details but it’s probably safe to say the truck will likely be a version of the supercharged Harley F-150. Expect big custom wheels, a custom instrument cluster, perhaps special stitching in the seats. Production may be limited. We also don’t know whether this will satisfy 01-04 Lightning owners. Will this new SVT truck be a Lightning replacement? We’ll see.
One thing is clear. Ford needs to keep coming up with new models and incentives to get truck sales levels back to where they were not that long ago. Trucks are big business and the F-Series was the top selling vehicle for many years (that is until this year). With rumors of a Raptor F150 and a new Ford F100, this potential new SVT truck might be just what Ford needs to be #1 again.

I heard the Raptor F-150 was canceld I also heard the same about the boss 6.2 V8 a major let down for me. Ford is really milking the 5.4 For all its worth. Now with 320 hp its at about 100 more horses than its debut it 1997. I hope that the new F-150 is at least as fast as the the Chevy Vortec’s…I gets old listening to the Chebby guys boast about being faster..but I am sure they get tired of us talking about beating them in pull offs. I dont expect the new F-150 will be as fast as the new Ram though with a 381hp hemi…I already have read one artical of a quad cab hemi 09 ram pulling off a 5.7 second 0-60 time..with the advacements Ford has made to the 09 F-150 I expect it to do 0-60 in the mid to early 7s…but then again I thought the 04-08 F-150’s would be in the mid 7’s when I first heard about the 300hp 3v VVC 5.4 back in 04. guess that 6,300lb curb weight soured that. Dont get me wrong the 5.4 isnt a bad engine it does what truck engines should do, and that is make lots of low end torq at a nice low RPM…same cant be said for the Chevy 5.3 or the 6.0 Vortec Max for that matter. I just really had my sights set on a 400+hp 400+lb tq 6.2 V8 with a 6speed auto. man that combo right there with this weight loss for the 09 F-150’s would put them at the top of the speed heap I am sure probuly low 5’sec 0-60’s Eaither way im sure that the 2009 F-150 will be a great truck just like the 04-08’s were…but once again probuly not the fastest.

That is one beauty that you cant resist… i really love the style of the hood it gives more muscle look.
